About

  • WOMB Roanoke is a mission-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to providing evidence-based, inclusive childbirth education in the Roanoke Valley. We’re a dedicated team of three who teach every class ourselves, guided by a volunteer board of directors who help support and shape our work.

Currently, we offer our Basics of Childbirth class every other month (on odd-numbered months), with space for up to ten couples per session. While we do charge for registration, we reserve a portion of seats for subsidized or free admission, so that cost is never a barrier to attending.

If you’d like a free seat, just email us at hello@wombroanoke.com—no questions asked.

  • WOMB’s mission is to create a space where growing families are nurtured through diverse communities, evidence-based education, and nonjudgmental support. We believe that everyone on the journey to parenthood—not just the birthing person—deserves care and connection.

Supporting families means looking at the full spectrum of the perinatal experience, rather than isolating individual phases or neglecting the moments in between. Our goal is to help parents thrive, not just survive, by offering education and support that reflect the full reality of what it means to grow a family.

We also believe in building trust in the hospital birth experience, rather than fueling fear around it. By helping families understand what to expect and how to communicate with their care team, we aim to remove stigma, reduce anxiety, and strengthen the relationship between patients and providers.

    • Birth is a normal, healthy function of the body.

    • There is no “right” or “wrong” way to give birth.

    • People deserve to have access to evidence based information so that they can make informed decisions that feel right for them and their families.

    • You deserve to know what is happening to your body, and why.

    • Hospitals have so much to offer to the birth space. Medication and medical intervention can make birth easier and safer for both the birther and the baby.

    • Taking care of yourself is one of the best gifts you can give your child.

    • We base education on standards of care

    • We are not providing health advice, always call your doctor with questions especially in regards to safety

The WOMB Team

  • Grace Brian

Grace has always had a fascination with childbirth, but it wasn’t until after the birth of her son that she realized her passion for birth support. She has been working as a doula since 2021 and recently became certified with DONA International. After working with parents in the Roanoke area she realized that there was a huge lack of education for pregnant families and this is when WOMB was born. Grace and her husband moved to Roanoke from their hometown of Durham, NC in 2017 to get a change of scenery. She has been a stay at home mom for the last 18 months and learned more than ever that caring for yourself as a parent is the secret to success.

“My goal for parents to be is that they can become active players in their birth experience. It turns out that you don’t need to memorize facts, you just need to know the right questions to ask.”

  • Taryn Adrados

Taryn worked as a labor & birth nurse at Yale in New Haven, CT for 6 years. Before that she spent a year on a Medical/Surgical unit and one year on a Labor/Birth/Postpartum unit in a small community hospital in CT. Taryn has experience with high risk pregnancies as well as unmedicated, physiologic birth. She moved to Roanoke in 2021 with her husband and son when her husband took a job with Carilion. She has been staying home with her son for the last 18 months but she plans on getting back to the labor floor once he starts school. Taryn is excited to share her knowledge with soon to be parents to help them prepare for their child's birthday.

“My goal is to inform parents of what to expect during the labor and birth process and to provide them with information they can use to make the best choices for their healthcare and birth experience.”

  • Laura Cuadrado

  • Jordan Nallen

Jordan is currently a stay at home mother with a passion for pregnancy and birth advocacy. In 2016, she graduated from Ferrum College with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. Ethics was (and still is) her favorite philosophical topic. She looks forward to starting doula training in the spring after the arrival of her second born child. One of her proudest accomplishments is having breastfed her first born for 2.5 years. She was really surprised to have made it that far in her journey. She is always up to listening and talking with others about the struggles, joys and the emotional rollercoaster that is breastfeeding and to listen to those who vary in baby feeding experiences #fedisbest

“My goal with WOMB is to connect with other parents and to help guide them in making informed decisions about pregnancy, birth and beyond”.
