About
Taryn Adrados
Taryn worked as a labor & birth nurse at Yale in New Haven, CT for 6 years. Before that she spent a year on a Medical/Surgical unit and one year on a Labor/Birth/Postpartum unit in a small community hospital in CT. Taryn has experience with high risk pregnancies as well as unmedicated, physiologic birth. She moved to Roanoke in 2021 with her husband and son when her husband took a job with Carilion. She has been staying home with her son for the last 18 months but she plans on getting back to the labor floor once he starts school. Taryn is excited to share her knowledge with soon to be parents to help them prepare for their child's birthday.
“My goal is to inform parents of what to expect during the labor and birth process and to provide them with information they can use to make the best choices for their healthcare and birth experience.”
Grace Brian
Grace has always had a fascination with childbirth, but it wasn’t until after the birth of her son that she realized her passion for birth support. She has been working as a doula since 2021 and recently became certified with DONA International. After working with parents in the Roanoke area she realized that there was a huge lack of education for pregnant families and this is when WOMB was born. Grace and her husband moved to Roanoke from their hometown of Durham, NC in 2017 to get a change of scenery. She has been a stay at home mom for the last 18 months and learned more than ever that caring for yourself as a parent is the secret to success.
“My goal for parents to be is that they can become active players in their birth experience. It turns out that you don’t need to memorize facts, you just need to know the right questions to ask.”
Laura Cuadrado
Laura is a Recreational Therapist with Carilion Clinic, working with children and adults with mental health diagnoses. She is a Salem/Roanoke native and is thrilled to provide pre, peri, and postnatal birth services to the area. After hiring a doula for the arrival of her 2 children, Laura discovered the importance of birth support and hopes to apply her expertise to this population. She is attending Temple University in the fall to continue her education and research how TR can meet the needs of the birthing community.
“My goal is to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space for all people affected by birth through therapy, community, and empowerment. Every person has a birth story! “
Jordan Nallen
Jordan is currently a stay at home mother with a passion for pregnancy and birth advocacy. In 2016, she graduated from Ferrum College with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. Ethics was (and still is) her favorite philosophical topic. She looks forward to starting doula training in the spring after the arrival of her second born child. One of her proudest accomplishments is having breastfed her first born for 2.5 years. She was really surprised to have made it that far in her journey. She is always up to listening and talking with others about the struggles, joys and the emotional rollercoaster that is breastfeeding and to listen to those who vary in baby feeding experiences #fedisbest
“My goal with WOMB is to connect with other parents and to help guide them in making informed decisions about pregnancy, birth and beyond”.
What we do
We are so excited to finally be offering childbirth classes to the Roanoke Valley! In addition to our basics of childbirth course, we are also in the process of curating “electives” or smaller classes that focus on one topic in depth. These electives range from babywearing, to labor positions, to setting boundaries postpartum. Have a topic in mind? Let us know!
After we get our initial programming established we hope to offer even more services that will include more social support for new moms. To get updates sign up for our email newsletter on the bottom of this page!
Everyone deserves childbirth ed.
Birth is a huge part of life, yet most people know nothing about it. We started WOMB because we believe that approaching parenthood is a vulnerable place, and you deserve to have an unbiased place to learn what to expect. Our class will give you the facts and help you find the information you need to feel confident in the choices you make on your way to parenthood.
